SHIRL HAS LAST WORD ON DANNY

- By PETER DYKE

HEAD judge Shirley Ballas sealed Danny John-Jules’ fate last night and got him kicked off Strictly.

The Red Dwarf star had been at the centre of bullying claims last week after he had a row with his dance partner Amy Dowden.

She is said to have fled the dance studio in tears after a clash at rehearsals.

He later received a final warning from bosses for his behaviour.

Last night Danny landed in the dance-off against cricketer Graeme Swann.

Judge Craig Revel Horwood chose to save the Death In Paradise star while his colleagues Darcey Bussell and Bruno Tonioli wanted to save Graeme.

That left Shirley with the head judge’s crucial vote and the Queen of Latin sent Danny home.

Shirley had previously claimed the dance world is full of bullies.

She said: “When you come into the industry your parents are with you but my advice to everybody is always watch out for the bullies. I was bullied in the industry.”

Danny and Amy were bottom of the leader board after their Samba failed to impress the TV judges on Saturday’s show, watched by 10.8million viewers.

And they were still in a dance-off position after the public vote.

Amy admitted things had been “intense” between the pair during rehearsals but Danny denied being a bully, saying: “My conscience has never been clearer.”

Danny, who misses out on Saturday’s show from Blackpool, said: “It’s been a great experience.”

Amy said: “The nation has been able to see your talent.”

Meanwhile, Danny confronted Strictly dancer James Jordan after he called his 82-year-old mother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s, “miserable”.

James tweeted that Danny’s mother looked “as miserable as him”.

Danny hit back, saying: “So you take the p**s out of an 82 YO woman with Alzheimers #BigMan.”

James later deleted the tweet and replied: “I’m sure she is a lovely lady. No malice intended.”
