- THE GIRL IN THE SPIDER’S WEB (15)

BOND boss Barbara Broccoli has made it clear she won’t be doing a Doctor Who with her spy franchise.

But if you’re still wondering what a female 007 might look like, check out what Hollywood has done to Swedish writer Stieg Larsson’s Girl With A Dragon Tattoo.

Here his tortured Swedish goth hacker Lisbeth Salander drives fast cars, delivers faster punches and gets out of scrapes with one very useful gadget.

In this improbable action flick, Lisbeth (Claire Foy) uses a smartphone to open prisons, take over CCTV and hijack cars. I don’t know what model it is but I’d love to visit its App Store.

The twisty plot begins with an oldfashioned ELVIS PRESLEY: THE SEARCHER (12) phone call. Computer expert Frans Balder (Stephen Merchant) has got hold of the number of a mysterious hacker on the run from the police.

He’s written a program for the US government which can access the codes of every nuclear weapon on Earth. Now (perhaps after reading Donald Trump’s Twitter feed) he’s decided it may not be in the safest hands.

When Lisbeth agrees to steal it back, she finds herself caught in a tangled web involving a blond hitman, a shadowy Swedish spy, a US hackerturned-agent and her evil estranged sister.

Her journalist partner Mikael Blomkvist (Sverrir Gudnason) feels a little redundant but director Fede Alvarez delivers some slick action scenes and clever twists.
