LIPA LOSES OUT

-

DUA Lipa may not land the next James Bond theme song if the new director gets his way.

Cary Fukunaga has been hired to shoot the Bond 25 movie after Danny Boyle left the project.

And it turns out the US film-maker prefers bands to solo artists when it comes to 007 music – ideally Duran Duran again.

He revealed: “The first Bond I ever saw was A View To A Kill with Roger Moore.

“To me, Duran Duran’s Bond theme song (titled the same as the movie) was probably one of the best Bond songs ever, because I love Duran Duran.”

Well Shirley Bassey sang more than one 007 song so don’t rule out another Duran Bond banger!

The director also opened the door to Christoph Waltz (Blofeld) and Ben Whishaw (Q) featuring in the new movie after early drafts of leaked scripts appeared not to include those major characters.

He explained: “We haven’t finished the screenplay, so there is no way that anyone could know that.

“Those are two extraordinary actors, so if there is space for them in the story, I would absolutely want them there.

“I am trying to get the narrative stuff

SOLO: Dua BANDS: Cary sorted out and have a good story to tell. Yeah, there will be the things in the Bond-verse that you have come to expect. I can’t say too much, though.”

One thing is certain, he is thrilled to be working with Daniel Craig before he hangs up his Walther PPK.

Cary added: “Daniel is an incredible actor. Outside of Bond, I have been a fan for years of his work.

“In his first Bond movie, Casino Royale, he brought an incredible amount of vulnerability and humanity to the character, which was a big shift from Pierce Brosnan’s run.

“In terms of what I can bring to change the character, Bond is on a character arc that started with Casino Royale, and I will be carrying that on.

“As in any story, a character has to change in order to have a narrative.”
