Dyche relegation six-pointer

- By CHRIS McKENNA

SEAN DYCHE insists everyone outside of the “big six” are involved in the fight to stay in the Premier League.

Burnley host Newcastle tonight looking for just their third Premier League win this season.

It is games against their fellow strugglers that will decide the Clarets’ fate but boss Dyche believes there are many more involved in the scrap than the teams around Burnley towards the bottom of the table.

He said: “Anyone outside the top six – by the top six I also mean Man United who have been flirting in and out of it – anyone outside of that will have to work for the points.

“Bournemouth have had a great start and Watford have had a great start but over a season it is very tough. We had a fine season last season and still had a spell of 11 games without a win.

“It’s very difficult. My point is all of the teams out of that, everyone is fighting, everyone wants the points and to continue being in the Premier League.

“There used to be a thinking that there were three divisions within the division but I think it is now the big six and the rest.

“The only anomaly being Man United, who have just been a bit up and down.

“We are part of the pack of other clubs that have to keep fighting for everything we get.”

Burnley earned a place in the Europa League last season but they failed to make the group stages and are now back among the league strugglers.

Dyche has no concerns his squad have lost their nous in a relegation battle, though, and added: “We have to fight. We are Burnley, it’s no easy ride.”
