True champ Fury grabs all the glory

-

TYSON FURY woke up the heavyweight division last weekend – he should have woken up on Sunday as the WBC world heavyweight champion too.

The whole country was going crazy over the draw with Deontay Wilder – which was the wrong decision – and the rematch will be even bigger.

There were nearly 18,000 fans in LA’s Staples Center and more than half of them were cheering on the Brit.

The Manchester fighter (below) hit rock bottom in life 18 months ago.

And as he lay flat on his back in the 12th round of a thrilling clash with Wilder, he was rock bottom in the ring.

But just like he did in life, Fury rose up when it looked like he was finished.

He was the only man in that arena who didn’t think it was all over.

The draw was so cruel – I watched the fight back ® Interview by CHRIS McKENNA again on Monday and thought he won by at least four rounds. From his body language at the final bell, you could tell that Wilder didn’t think he was going to get the decision. Fury is now in the driving seat. He is the No.1 heavyweight in the world. Of course he would like to have had the belt, but he has got something none of the others have got.

He is the lineal champion and reaffirmed his position as the top man of the division. The worrying thing for the division is that Fury had just two warm-up fights in three years since beating Wladimir Klitschko. Now he has those rounds in the bank he will be even better. Fury wants the rematch with Wilder but then he’ll be coming for Anthony Joshua – and they better not hide.
