Hard man? I like sewing!

Idris reveals his feminine side

-

IDRIS Elba is known to millions as angry and tough detective DCI John Luther in the BBC thriller.

And he’s even been tipped to be the next James Bond trying to save the world from some evil tyrant.

But in reality, Idris is far more in touch with his feminine side.

And you’re more like to spot him with a hoover and a needle and thread.

The actor tells the Christmas Radio Times: “I don’t know if crocheting or hoovering are feminine but I grew up in a house where my mum taught me to do everything because I’m her only child.

“So I cooked, I hoovered, I made the beds, I ironed and I sewed.

“I’m also a doting dad and I only say that’s more feminine than masculine because children and their mothers cuddle and all that, but I’m very affectionate with my loved ones and, generally, I’m a hugger.” Idris is back on our screens on New Year’s Day on BBC One in the new series of Luther.

He is donning his trademark big tweed coat again and even claims this makes him do “The Luther Walk”.

Luther’s new series promises to be even gorier and scarier than before.

And he confirms his psychopathic would-be girlfriend Alice (played by Ruth Wilson) is back – even though fans thought she was dead.

Idris says: “We are upping the stakes for John Luther this series. Alice is back and there’s unfinished business.”
