WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY
THERE are some big stars this year on THE ROYAL VARIETY PERFORMANCE 2018 (7.30pm, ITV). It’s hosted, for example, by actor/comedian Greg Davies. Greg is 9ft 7ins and, remarkably, still growing. By the time we reach the end of this column he may well be 9ft 8ins.
Also on the show, of course, is the winner of Britain’s Got Talent 2018, the excellent Lost Voice Guy, plus Taskmaster’s Alex Horne with his band the Horne Section.
Among the top impressionists, hooking up for a look back on the year, are Debra Stephenson and Rory Bremner, plus there’s music from the likes of Clean Bandit, George Ezra, Rick Astley and Take That (or Taketh, as I prefer to call them these days, now that two of their characters have left, ho ho). ELSEWHERE, Melvin Odoom is back with CELEBRITY LEGO MASTERS AT CHRISTMAS (8pm, Channel 4), where kids who competed in the regular show are paired with the likes of Warwick Davis, Joe Swash and Spencer Matthews.
In terms of the impact this has on their creativity, it’s like bringing back a selection of Bake Off finalists for a one-off re-match in which each of them is partnered with their favourite pet. TALKING of spectacular ineptitude, The Apprentice fans can pause tonight and reflect on the choices Lord Sugar has made so far in this series.
We still have a bit more whittlingdown before Sunday evening’s final, but in THE APPRENTICE: THE FINAL FIVE (10.45pm, BBC1) we get to learn more about those Lord S has somehow deemed worthy of staying put. ALSO, Greg Davies is now 9ft 8ins. Told you.
