I WAS PARALYSED BY MY CHICKEN CURRY!

Dave’s coma horror after a takeaway

A MAN became paralysed after eating a curry.

David Braham, 40, went into a coma following a Chinese meal.

Doctors found he was suffering from severe food poisoning, which triggered a rare autoimmune disorder, GuillainBarré syndrome.

This causes the body to attack itself, including the nerves in charge of movement.

The dad of two battled his way out of the coma only to be totally paralysed.

He has spent months since learning to move again.

The driving instructor had grabbed the lunch-on-the-go while between lessons.

He started feeling ill while watching his son play rugby. A few days later, he was in hospital but was given antibiotics and sent home. Within two days he was taken back to hospital completely unable to move.

“When I woke up out of the coma I had no idea what was going on,” said Mr Braham, of Bridgend.

“I was paralysed and couldn’t feel a thing.

“I didn’t see my children for three months while I was in intensive care.”

He has been having daily treatment and hopes to be back home around March.

Meantime, Mr Braham, who is separated, is looking forward to having his son Junior, seven, and daughter Georgia, four, with him in hospital at Christmas.

He said: “I can’t wait to be a dad again, to spend time with the kids. It feels like there is some light at the end of the tunnel.”
