Hammer Noble to stay put

- By TONY BANKS

MARK NOBLE will end his career as a one-club man after signing a new West Ham deal.

The Hammers skipper, who came through the ranks at the club, last night penned a one-year extension until 2021.

It means that Saturday’s away game at Fulham will be the midfielder’s 447th competitive game for the club he has supported since he was a schoolboy.

Noble, 31, said: “It was an option in my contract that I signed a few years ago now, and it’s an extra year, which is fantastic for me and my family.

“I’ve been at this club all my life so it takes me to the end of my career.

Break

“I’ve always said I wanted to be at this club and I think we’re moving in the right direction. So it was the right time to do it.”

Noble is planning to stay on at the club once he retires from playing to take up a coaching role.

The Londoner made his debut as a 17-year-old back in August 2004.

He was given his big break by Alan Pardew and has played under eight different managers.

Manuel Pellegrini is the latest man in charge and his in-form side face a London derby with Fulham this weekend on the back of three successive wins for the first time in two years.

Noble added: “I hope the club keeps moving in the right way and hopefully I can be a part of that.”
