SNOWFLAKES want a loo sign banned because it is offensive to people with weak bladders.

The logo backing a drive for more public loos shows a man and woman crossing their legs as if desperate for a wee.

But the British Toilet Association received complaints from people with bladder conditions describing the logo as “insensitive”.

Now councillors are being urged to reconsider the logo, which has also been criticised as “demeaning and disrespectful”.

The symbol chosen for the initiative was passed by a single vote at a Moray Council meeting earlier this month.

Raymond Martin, boss of the group campaigning for loos, said he was sympathetic to the concerns. But he believed the logo was suitable – even though he himself has a medical complaint requiring urgent visits to the loo.

He said: “I’ve been across the world and seen every toilet sign you can imagine, with stiletto heels, smoking pipes, top hats, frilly bonnets, cockerels and hens.

“I understand the objections, but the sign doesn’t seem particularly offensive to me.”

The council, based in Elgin, north-east Scotland, says it has had a “positive” response from hotels, restaurants and bars willing to open their toilets to the public.

The logo was to be displayed in windows by businesses participating in the scheme.
