SANTA’S SNOWBALLS
Flakes demand gender neutral Father Christmas Give him skinny jeans, tattoos and car that flies
WHINING snowflakes want to make Father Christmas gender neutral or a woman.
Santa could also be forced to ditch his red and white outfit in favour of jeans and trainers, if calls to “modernise” him go ahead.
His festive sleigh could even be replaced by a hoverboard or flying car as part of a hipster overhaul.
The millennial madness was revealed in a survey by design company GraphicSprings about how to change Father Christmas’s image.
After polling 400 people in the UK and US for their suggestions, a further 4,000 have cast their votes.
An astonishing 20% of people thought he should have tattoos and nearly a quarter wanted Santa to carry an iPhone.
Another 21% wanted to put him on a diet.
It could mean the end for leaving out the traditional mince pie and wine – replaced by celery and water.
And 18% said his red-and-white suit should be replaced with skinny jeans, while 22% said Santa should ditch the sleigh in exchange for a flying car.
A hoverboard as his mode of transport was supported by 17% of those questioned.
No mention was made of what the future might hold for Rudolph and his fellow reindeer without a sleigh to carry them through the skies.
Incredibly, 17% suggested that beloved St Nicholas should be gender neutral in future, with a further 10% supporting a female version.
The news of a sex change for Santa has been greeted with a furious backlash on social media. One angry opponent said: “Leave Santa alone!”
Another pointed out: “I’m all for equality.
“But the idea that we should make Santa gender neutral or female is ridiculous!
“You cannot change history – St Nicholas, the guy who started the whole stocking hanging thing was a man!!”
And one critic wrote: “Absolutely not, it’s a fat guy in a red suit with a red hat and white beard, carrying a massive sack full of toys and a guy who gets stuck up chimneys.
“End of discussion!” he added. However Gina Battye, who provides oneto-one coaching on LGBT+ issues, has said that she welcomes the results of the survey.
She said: “This shows that progress is happening around inclusion, and more people are challenging their perceptions and childhood conditioning.” TRADITIONAL: Father Christmas
