MANCHESTER UNITED legends lined up to put the boot in last night as Jose Mourinho admitted his side were no match for leaders Liverpool.

United are 19 points behind their rivals, with Kop boss Jurgen Klopp describing his side’s first-half display as the best of his reign.

Supersub Xherdan Shaqiri’s second-half double put Liverpool back on top by a point after Jesse Lingard cancelled out Sadio Mane’s opener.

Ex-captain Roy Keane slammed his old club, claiming United players aren’t fit to wear the shirt.

He said: “They were found out. I’ve got huge concerns for United. It

is easy to sit here and be critical of players but a lot of the players playing today aren’t good enough to play for Manchester United.

“They are good players, but not for Manchester United. If you came down from the moon today and knew nothing about football, you’d say United are an average Premier League side. Nothing more.”

Ex-United defender Gary Neville said: “Liverpool are streets ahead. Streets. Not one of the United midfielders can pass a football. Not one of them.

“I find it staggering. United were awful. It’s not good enough.”

But Mourinho, who again left £89m midfielder Paul Pogba on the bench, said: “The players gave everything and when the players give everything, I am never frustrated towards them. I have a good feeling towards them.

“Liverpool are fast, they are intense, they are aggressive, they are physical, they are objective. They play 200 miles per hour with and without the ball.

Before

“So when the game was really intense in the first 25 minutes, it was difficult for us to cope with it.

“We have lots of players that I could consider injury-prone because some of our players are always injured and it is not with me. It was before me.

“I also have a lot of good players technically but we don’t have lots of players with that intensity. So when the game has high levels of intensity, it is difficult for us.”

Klopp hailed his league leaders as “perfect” after they leapfrogged Manchester City to reclaim top spot.

“It was a brilliant start,” he said. “One of the best performances we had since I’ve been in Liverpool.

“For the first half hour we were outstanding, scored only one but I don’t think anyone expects four or five against this United team. How we played was just perfect.”

Shaqiri took his tally to five for the season with a deflected double in a brilliant 20-minute cameo.

“Shaq is such a skilled boy, he has to make an impact forward,” said Klopp.

“We needed a bit of luck, both goals deflected, but being in the situation was good football and the first goal, what a goal.

“Brilliant, exactly like we have to do it. Fantastic pass, super control, perfect finish.”
