Silva’s golden chance to steal a march on United
EVERTON can make a bad week even worse for Manchester United tomorrow if they beat Tottenham at Goodison Park.
I have been impressed with Marco Silva this season as the Toffees race United for sixth spot. So, even for value alone, I think the 2-1 on the Merseysiders winning is too good to ignore.
Three points for Everton would certainly pile the pressure on new Reds caretaker boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino has been strongly linked with the Old Trafford role after Jose Mourinho’s departure but Tottenham are flying high in all competitions this season and I fancy their chances of winning at least one trophy this season.
However this could be a tough game for Pochettino.
Granted, recent history tells me I’d be wise to back against the hosts taking three points given that they have not done that in any of their last 11 outings against Spurs in the top flight.
Tottenham have been in fine form of late but I’m more of a glass half-empty punter.
For me, they still lack depth and I think it is only a matter of time before the Premier League would struggle to maintain such a good run.
And with that in mind I think they are there for the taking this weekend.
I’m confident both sides will find the net tomorrow afternoon – as are our traders who make it just a 6-10 shot.
So I am leaning towards an Everton win with both teams scoring at a tasty 17-4.
