MY dad is convinced he is going to marry a woman he has never met.

This “Jennifer” apparently lives in America and he sends her money all the time.

I don’t actually believe she exists. I think he is being conned by an unscrupulous fraud merchant.

Yet any time I say anything against his “love” he flies into a rage. He accuses me of meddling and treating him like a child. He’s supposed to be coming here for Christmas lunch, but I don’t even know if he’s still speaking to me.

We had a terrible row a couple of nights ago after my sister saw his bank statement and realised he’s sent “Jennifer” £4,000 for Christmas.

I went mad, but he went on the attack and was rude towards me.

I’ve seen a picture of this woman, which is obviously fake. How a gorgeous blonde twenty-something would be interested in him is a joke.

How do I save him before he selfdestructs?

JANE SAYS: This is a very worrying time for your sister and you.

Your father is a vulnerable man and if he really is being ripped off, then of course you’re going to speak out.

Is there anyone else in the family he will listen to and respect? Could his GP, a lawyer or priest convince him to wake up and smell the scam?

The problem is that if he thinks he’s about to embark on a new life with a lovely woman, then his expectations are high.

Check out Action Fraud (National Fraud and Cyber Crime Reporting Centre) for information. There is a section on the website regarding romance fraud and a phone number. Call 0300 123 2040 to log a crime.

Your dad has to know that he’s loved, but is up against some serious criminals.
