Sean: I’ll stick to my plan

- By MIKE WHALLEY

SEAN DYCHE is happy to keep on taking the stick for Burnley’s tactics if he gets them out of trouble.

Dyche travels with his side to Arsenal today, mulling over whether to go with the ultra-defensive strategy that almost earned a point at Tottenham last Saturday.

The Burnley boss set up with a flat back-five at Wembley and saw his team have only 30 per cent of the ball, with two players – Phil Bardsley and Robbie Brady – booked for time-wasting in the second half.

In the end, it was all for nothing as Christian Eriksen’s 91st-minute winner left the Clarets in the drop zone.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino claimed Burnley only came for a point, but Dyche insists he has to find a way to get his team up the table, whatever it takes.

He said: “It’s reality tactics. If everyone decides they’re going to roll it out from the back and play 600 passes, then Manchester City win. End of story.

“You’ve got to find a way. That’s what we’ve done.”

Dyche believes his team are fighting the odds in the Premier League – and not just against the ‘Big Six’.

He said: “We’ve not got the spending power of many other clubs, including the ones like us.

“Huddersfield and Brighton over the past three windows have spent fortunes. We’ve got to find a way of being successful, and we’ve done that in the six years I’ve been here.”
