Howe’s 100-year pledge

- By ALEX CROOK

EDDIE HOWE says talk of a move to Tottenham won’t distract him – because he is committed to Bournemouth for 100 years.

Ex-Spurs star Jamie Redknapp claims Howe would be the “perfect replacement” for Mauricio Pochettino if the Argentine quits for Manchester United.

But Cherries boss Howe said: “I always manage like I’m going to be here for the next 100 years.

“In my long-term thinking I am always thinking what is best for the club in every decision that I make.

Hard

“It is absolutely foolish of me to think of anything other than this club. I am committed 100 per cent to every minute here and working as hard I can.

“Tottenham have an outstanding manager who is doing an unbelievable job.

“I’m not going to comment on a club that has a manager, it is disrespectful.

“I do not pay it (talk of him going to Spurs) any attention whatsoever and I do not give it any credibility.

‘‘I do not waste my time thinking about it. Football is not black and white and you don’t know what is around the corner.

“I learned very early as a player that you can be on top of the world one minute and injured for two years the next.

“You can be playing for England at youth level one minute and making a mistake for your club team the next.

“It is a roller coaster and it is the same in management.

“It is very difficult to predict what is around the corner, so what I always try and do is just focus on the job that I’m doing and do it to the best of my ability every single day.”

Bournemouth host fellow south coast side Brighton today looking to rediscover their early-season form after losing six of their last seven games.

Howe added: “You have games to win and we try and do that and we always try to give the players the best preparation we can.

“The ambition is to try and be the best we can be and to try and get as many points as we can.

‘‘Who knows what that will be and where that will get us?”
