MUM ON MURDER CHARGES
A MUM accused of murdering her 23-month-old twins is pictured holding the tragic tots in a picture that emerged last night.
Samantha Ford was arrested by police after they found kids Jake and Chloe dying at her home in Margate, Kent, on Thursday.
Emergency services had earlier pulled the 37-year-old from the wreckage of a crash on a dual carriageway at 2.50am on Thursday.
They then found the children after driving her home, and are now said to be examining the theory she crashed the family’s Ford Galaxy deliberately.
Medics battled to save little Jake and Chloe, but they were pronounced dead shortly after arriving at hospital.
Last night Ford was charged with two counts of murder.
The children’s great-grandmother Pamela Emptage said: “What can you say? I mean they were not even two years old yet, it’s absolutely tragic. They were lovely.”
Yesterday, the tots’ uncle James Emptage sobbed as he labelled it a SO SAD: Cuddly toys outside house “terrible tragedy”. He added: “I will pay tribute but not right now.”
One resident, who asked not to be named said: “We pass people round here and say hello to neighbours, but other than that, everyone keeps themselves to themselves.
“Something like this shocks you when it’s on your doorstep.”
Toys have been left outside the family home as neighbours paid tribute to the tragic tots. A heart-breaking last picture of Chloe being held by her dad Steven Ford on December 23 also emerged last night.
He wrote: “Snuggling with my fave girl #daughter #myworld #twins.”
Forensic experts are still at the house, and have been seen removing pillows and mattresses to be taken away for examination.
Dad Steven was a keen golf fan and his children were pictured on social media with South African four-time Major winner Ernie Els, 49.
He took them to a tournament in the Middle East and stopped the golfing star for a picture.
In January 2017, Steven posted on Twitter: “@TheBig_Easy meeting #thecaptainstwins @DohaGolfClub @CBQatarMasters.”
It is thought that the couple, who are believed to have been married for more than five years, have also spent time living in Qatar.
Samantha is thought to have moved to the Margate property with the twins just a few weeks ago after buying a new home with her husband in Ashford, 37 miles away.
Ford will appear at Canterbury Magistrates’ Court today.
