CLAUDE PUEL is confident Leicester won’t have their top players snatched away in January.

England stars Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell would fetch around £100m, with rising star James Maddison valued at around £40m.

But Puel is not worried that his coveted squad will be ravaged by big-money bids they can’t afford to turn away.

He said: “We have stability at the club and I think the players want to remain here and finish the season.

“We want to continue all together but, of course, a player can sometimes have some solicitation.”

And Puel said he is not losing sleep that the club will have to cave in to big bids as he prepares his men for the visit of Cardiff.

The last time the two sides met was in the immediate aftermath of the helicopter tragedy which claimed club owner Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and four others on board.

Puel said: “When we played them at Cardiff a couple of months ago it was, of course, very tough.

“It was the first game after the accident and there was a lot of emotion.

“I didn’t know how we would manage the game.

“It was incredibly difficult but we had a fantastic response. I’d like to thank Cardiff fans because they were fantastic as well.”

Puel added: “It was a special day. When the accident happened I didn’t know how we could ever have a reaction in the right way.

“I didn’t know at that time if it was possible to maintain things or move on.

“People at this club suffered a lot of pain. There was a lot of crying and a lot of grief.”
