Stevie hunts for Old gold
STEVEN GERRARD is looking to pull off a feat no Rangers manager has managed in six years – beating Celtic.
The lunchtime clash at Ibrox today is one of the most eagerly awaited Old Firm derbies in a generation.
Victory for the boys in blue and might spark a genuine title race north of the border in Gerrard’s first season.
He is up against his former Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers, a man who has not lost a game to Rangers during his Celtic career.
Rangers’ form is patchy. They have found balancing a domestic title challenge with an unexpected Europa League run difficult to manage.
And when Alfredo Morelos does not find the net – which this season has been a rarity – they struggle to find someone who can.
The Colombian heads the scoring charts in Scotland and is 8-5 to score any time and break his duck against the Hoops. Celtic, back on form despite losing both recognised strikers, look a cracking bet at 19-20 after two wins on enemy territory last season.
They’ll only have 800 fans in the stands and will face an early
onslaught from PEARSON’S a Rangers side who really need to win to ignite their season. Gers are
11-4 to win one of the fiercest derbies in world football, with a draw nobody wants at 5-2.
Also this weekend, the Edinburgh derby takes place as Hibernian host Hearts at Easter Road.
Hibs are unbeaten in their last six, including two draws against Rangers and a victory over Celtic and have not lost to their city rivals in the last six derbies they have hosted.
But after a strong start to the season, Craig Levein’s side have lost six of their last nine matches and have tumbled down the standings – but they are still four points ahead of Hibs.
Neil Lennon’s side are 21-20 and Hearts
13-5 to win their first game at Easter Road in four years and the draw is 12-5.
