RICKY FOR FLAKES

Comic slams gag killjoys

- By ANDREW JAMESON andrew.jameson@dailystar.co.uk

RICKY Gervais has urged people to ignore the snowflakes and “joke about whatever the f*** you like”.

He has launched a fresh attack against online whingers who he sees as a threat to free speech.

Ricky tweeted: “Please stop saying: ‘You can’t joke about anything anymore.’ You can. You can joke about whatever the f*** you like.

“And some people won’t like it and they will tell you they don’t like it. And then it’s up to you whether you give a f*** or not. And so on. It’s a good system.”

In Ricky’s last stand-up special, Humanity, there were jokes about Aids, rape, cancer, air crashes, transgender people, dead babies and the Holocaust.

Offended

But he says he does not “go for things that are personal tragedies”. He often says: “Just because you’re offended, doesn’t mean you’re right.”

In recent days on Twitter, his jokes have included: “Knowing that everyone on this planet will be dead one day gives me so much comfort. Happy New Year.”

And he tweeted the Pope: “Despite changing the genre of TV sitcom and going on to break records in podcasting, award nominations and stand-up comedy around the world, The Queen has once again s**t on my Knighthood.

“Could you make me a Saint to wipe the smile off her face?”

He was also known for his close-to-thebone jokes about Hollywood A-listers when hosting the Golden Globes.
