Fury over Ryanair’s £115 penalty to correct ‘glitch’ TRUMP SHOWS GAME PLAN

ANGRY Ryanair customers claim the airline charged them £115 to correct a glitch.

Passengers say the firm’s website changed their travel companions’ surnames to the same as the lead passenger. Those who did not spot the error within Ryanair’s 24-hour grace period for free “minor” changes were charged £115 to correct the mistake.

At least 44 travellers have so far complained about the alleged glitch.

Last night consumer website MoneySavingExpert. com urged the Irish airline, led by Michael O’Leary, left, to “have a heart” and waive the charge while it probed the glitch claims.

Edd Miles, 31, from Cambridge, said his girlfriend’s surname had been changed for their flight to Belfast.

The airline refused to waive the name-change fee.

Keeley Middleditch, 51, from Kidlington, Oxon, noticed pal Annie Murray’s surname had been changed to hers for a flight from Knock, Ireland, to Liverpool. And Nathan Somerset, 28, from Runcorn, Cheshire, found his partner’s surname had been changed to his after booking a flight for them to Palma, Majorca.

He had to pay the namechange fee after Ryanair refused to waive it.

The company sent him an email saying there were no “website issues” and blamed his internet browser’s autofill for the error.

MoneySavingExpert.com deputy editor Guy Anker said: “We don’t know for a fact whether there is a genuine glitch and can only go by the flurry of complaints we’ve seen.

“We would urge Ryanair to reconsider issuing the £115 name-change charge.”

A Ryanair spokesman said: “We were unable to replicate this apparent issue. We can confirm there is no ‘glitch’ with our booking system.”
