Reading defender O’Shea (inset) faces his former club in the FA Cup third round tomorrow.

“I hope he stays unbeaten in the league and gets knocked out of the cup,” added O’Shea.

United’s Ander Herrera says he is refusing to get carried away by their recovery under Solskjaer.

“If we continue this run, we will be closer to the top four but it’s not something that kills my mind right now.” United’s win at St James’ Park was only their third clean sheet this season.
