Warnock warning

- By ALEX BYWATER

GILLS RETURN: Ronnie Jepson NEIL WARNOCK has vowed Cardiff won’t make FA Cup headlines for the wrong reasons.

The veteran Bluebirds boss is desperate to avoid an upset when his side travel to Gillingham for this afternoon’s third-round tie.

Cardiff cancelled their pre-match press conference ahead of their trip to Priestfield Stadium as they continue to investigate allegations of bullying made against Under-18 head coach Craig Bellamy.

Former Bluebirds striker Bellamy has stood down from his role while Cardiff look into the case, but the club’s next priority is to the cup date with League One strugglers Gillingham.

Decent

Warnock said: “There’ll be changes to the team, that’s for sure, but I want to progress in the competition and we’ll be taking a strong squad to Kent.

“Three of our younger lads will be coming with us as well – Cameron Coxe, James Waite and Lloyd Humphries. We don’t want to be a headline this weekend.

“From Gillingham’s perspective, they’ll see it as a great opportunity.”

Warnock is set to give key midfielder Victor Camarasa a rest after the Spaniard came off injured in the 3-0 New Year’s Day defeat to Tottenham.

Cardiff first-team coach Ronnie Jepson managed Gillingham between 2005 and 2007 and has told the Bluebirds to take nothing for granted.

“Ronnie knows the club well and he’s told us that Gillingham have a decent side this season,” said Warnock.

“We’ll need to be at our best, that’s for sure.”
