NATHANIEL CLYNE has revealed his torment at being frozen out by Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool.

Clyne, 27, joined Bournemouth on loan on Friday after playing just seven Premier League games in the past 18 months due to injury and then failing to win his place back.

The England defender made his Cherries debut in their FA Cup defeat to Brighton.

But while Cardiff boss Neil Warnock was moaning about missing out on signing Clyne, the right-back admitted he was happy to have found a temporary home on the South Coast.

“I am looking forward to the rest of the season,” he said.

“I have gone a whole season and a half without really playing consistent football, which is unusual to me because I am used to playing a lot of football.

Frustrating

“This opportunity has arisen and hopefully I can play as many games as I can and stay injury-free.

“It is very frustrating. Knowing you are fit and you can go out there and play but constantly not getting selected is a bit disappointing.

“I would rather just go out and find another club which would give me the opportunities to play games. This is why I am here. I am just looking to play and go step by step.”

Brighton eased into round four courtesy of goals from Anthony Knockaert, Yves Bissouma’s long-range rocket and Florin Andone. Forgotten man Marc Pugh curled in Bournemouth’s consolation goal.

Romanian Andone now has his sights set on putting another dent in Liverpool’s title hopes when Klopp’s men visit the Amex Stadium in the league on Saturday.

Andone said: “We are unbeaten in the last four games. This is confidence for us. “We know Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world at this moment but it is our stadium, our people and our fans and maybe we can get something.”
