SUNSHINE TO BRIGHTEN UP THE DAY FOR PUNTERS

SEVARANO (treble) has easily the best form on offer in the two-mile maiden hurdle and should score for Oliver Sherwood.

Aidan Coleman takes the ride on the six-year-old, who was a very promising runner-up to Bright Forecast (winner again since) at Newbury in November, with Melchior

King nine lengths back in sixth. Severano, who was also second at Sandown on his hurdling debut, should be too good for these. Saint

De Vassy, trained by Tom Symonds, showed some ability when third at Ffos Las on his hurdling debut, and is the main danger. *%*, Musselburgh – ALRIGHT

SUNSHINE (nap) can bring some sunshine into punters’ lives by landing the finale at Musselburgh today. Keith Dalgleish, pictured left, sent the four-year-old to Carlisle where he won at the first time of asking. He beat a fairly modest field in some style, but was unable carry a penalty at Newcastle next time. That was in soft conditions – he had won on a sound surface at Carlisle – and today’s expected good ground is very much in his favour. The only other previous winner in the field, Malystic, looks the obvious threat to the selection.

-%+, Wolverhampton

– GORING (nb) can take a hot-looking conditions race at Wolverhampton’s evening meeting. The Eve Johnson-Houghton-trained seven-year-old still retains all his old enthusiasm and ran really well in a good-quality Listed event at Lingfield last time. He was fourth, but not beaten far by Wissahickon, whom many feel is a Group class performer in the making. A reproduction of that run will give Goring every chance. Main danger is Hathal, who has been running well in Listed races and was third in that class at Deauville last time out.
