Second man in plunge horror

-

TRAGEDY: Canary Wharf A SECOND man has died in less than 24 hours in Canary Wharf after plunging from a fourth floor shopping centre.

Police, paramedics and the air ambulance attended the east London financial district but the man, believed to be in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses claimed he put down his bag before sending a text message and “climbing over the railing”.

A number of onlookers were treated for shock.

The horror came after a man in his 30s was found dead after falling from an escalator at Canary Wharf Tube station on Monday.

Jordan Bruin, a manager at a nearby clothing shop, said: “I ran out of the shop and there was a guy lying on the floor, he had fallen from the top floor.

“The noise was unlike anything I had ever heard.”

A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: “His next of kin have not yet been informed – enquiries continue.”

The Canary Wharf Group said on Twitter: “We can confirm that there has been a medical incident.

“We are supporting the emergency services.”
