FESTIVAL PROMISE

-

STORMZY has hit back at his critics and promised to deliver a monumental Glastonbury headline set.

The grime star tops the Worthy Farm bill this summer.

But some old festival fans weren’t convinced it was the right decision so early into his career.

Stormzy said: “I get it. Only one album, where’s all the number ones? But I think the argument doesn’t even deserve the fuel.

“When June 28 comes, either everyone will be proved right or wrong, but I am the headliner and I will come and give you a headline performance.”

Stormzy was undoubtedly a highlight of Glasto 2017 when he played on the Other Stage, and he can’t wait to go back. He said: “This is the biggest moment. The biggest stage, the biggest all-eyes-onme kind of spotlight in my career, ever.

“But if you are waiting for the headliner to give you the Glastonbury headline-calibre performance, then have no fear, calm down, settle.”

By then his second album will be with us and it will feature some sort of collab with Ed Sheeran.

Stormzy has curated a collective of young black British talent exclusively for ELLE UK. They include the model Jourdan Dunn,

sprinter Dina AsherSmith and ace footballer Wilfried Zaha.

He told the new issue: “[This group are] powerful and incredible young Brits coming together like superheroes, like Avengers. [I want] people to see this and realise if you are young, black and British you can 100% excel in whatever lane you want.”

The February issue of ELLE UK is on sale now.
