RACE BOSS IN SCHUEY LOVE CLUE
F1 legend and wife ‘close’
MICHAEL Schumacher and his wife remain “a perfect couple” despite the life-changing injuries he suffered.
The Formula 1 legend’s manager Sabine Kehm said he and wife of 23 years Corinna are still close.
Seven-time world champion Schumacher – who suffered brain injuries when his ski helmet split open after a fall in the French Alps in 2013 – has not been seen publicly since the accident.
But speaking on the Beyond The Grid podcast Sabine told of the enduring importance to the driver of his loving family.
She said: “They were such a perfect couple and they are still a perfect couple.
“When he went home and the kids would come in, Formula 1 was far away. And he needed that privacy.
“Family-wise he was, and still is, really close with his family.”
“That’s a nice thing as well.
“He’s always had them around. He has a bunch of close and very good friends.” Earlier this month Corinna, 49, issued a rare statement thanking fans ahead of the driver’s 50th birthday.
She assured fans the family was “doing everything humanly possible to help him”. The couple have two children GinaMarie, 21, and Mick, 19, who won last year’s Formula 3 title and will this year race with Italian F2 team Prema. Schumacher woke up from his coma in April 2014 and is being tended to by experts at his home near Lake Geneva.
