KLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING

Moore lines up Warwick winner

- BRETT WILLIAMS

KLOUD GATE is a warm order to win the Unibet Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton (2.40) today and we are offering a standout 7-2.

But that may not last long if support for Gary Moore’s runner continues.

Improving at a rate of knots, Jamie Moore’s mount is 12lbs higher in the weights after Doncaster last time but – with the ground conditions ideal for this former smart flat stayer – the money is down.

Philip Hobbs has his string in fine form and the Minehead trainer saddles Cotswold Way who has won his last three races.

Happier

Our 9-1 looks a fair price for this unexposed six-year-old who should relish the underfoot conditions.

Unibet will be paying four places each-way in the 2m5f Handicap and we have seen support for Johnny Farrelly’s And The New at 16-1 in his first run after a wind operation. Doux Pretender is dropping back down in trip and will be much happier racing on this quicker ground and could be overpriced at 15-2. Charbel looks the one to catch in the 32Red Chase (2.05) and Kim Bailey’s runners have a 27 per cent win rate. But this looks a tight affair and Top Notch – who probably ran better than expected over hurdles on his seasonal debut – is rated exactly the same and this track really suits Nicky Henderson’s charge.

At Warwick, Milansbar is 8-1 to gain back-to-back victories in the Classic Chase (3.00) but is

6lbs higher than 12 months ago and could be vulnerable on the quicker ground.

Ibis De Rheu is still a novice but has plenty of experience so Harry Cobden looks set for a good spin on this 13-2 favourite who was a fine second at Cheltenham last month.

But the real value lies with Ultragold who is overpriced at

20-1.

He put in a good effort at Aintree in December and his Grand National odds could tumble if successful here.

In the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle 2.25, Birchdale tops the betting.

His recent course and distance victory has been boosted by the second – Clarendon Street – scoring at Wetherby last week.

The Unibet Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown next month has seen 24 entries and recent G1 Savills Chase winner Kemboy heads our ante post book at 7-2 with RSA hero Presenting Percy next best at 9-2.
