Charbel looks the one to catch in the 32Red Chase (2.05) and Kim Bailey’s runners have a 27 per cent win rate. But this looks a tight affair and Top Notch – who probably ran better than expected over hurdles on his seasonal debut – is rated exactly the same and this track really suits Nicky Henderson’s charge.
At Warwick, Milansbar is 8-1 to gain back-to-back victories in the Classic Chase (3.00) but is
6lbs higher than 12 months ago and could be vulnerable on the quicker ground.
Ibis De Rheu is still a novice but has plenty of experience so Harry Cobden looks set for a good spin on this 13-2 favourite who was a fine second at Cheltenham last month.
But the real value lies with Ultragold who is overpriced at
20-1.
He put in a good effort at Aintree in December and his Grand National odds could tumble if successful here.
In the Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle 2.25, Birchdale tops the betting.
His recent course and distance victory has been boosted by the second – Clarendon Street – scoring at Wetherby last week.
