- MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ – DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE

CORRIE legend Charlie Lawson reckons he could have become a terrorist if he hadn’t become a soap star.

The Northern Irish actor, who plays Jim McDonald, said it was “highly likely” he’d have gone down the wrong path had he not found fame.

And Charlie isn’t the only celebrity with a murky start in life. Many other famous faces found themselves on the wrong side of the law before hitting the big time.

Here, JENNIFER DUNKERLEY remembers the stars who’ve had a brush with police... WILL SMITH – ALLEGED ASSAULT

He might have been the Fresh Prince but actor Will Smith was arrested in 1989 over an assault so serious one man was left nearly blind. Will was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangerin­g another person, simple assault and criminal conspiracy. The charges were later dismissed.

CHERYL – ACTUAL BODILY HARM

Weeks after winning her place in Girls Aloud in 2003, Cheryl was arrested following an altercatio­n with a club bathroom attendant. Cheryl was convicted of assault causing actual bodily harm and did 120 hours of community service.

GINO D’ACAMPO – THEFT

Before fame as a chef, Gino fell into a bad crowd. In 1998, aged 19, he burgled the house of musician Paul Young and stole his £4,000 guitar collection as well as music featuring the voice of Paul’s wife Stacey, who died last year.

MARK WAHLBERG – ASSAULT

Aged just 16, the Hollywood hunk attacked two Vietnamese men with a wooden stick, knocking one unconsciou­s. He was charged with attempted murder, pleaded guilty to assault andsentenc­ed to two years in prison. He served 45 days.

BRUNO MARS – DRUG POSSESSION

The Uptown Funk singer was caught by cops in 2010 in possession of cocaine. He pleaded guilty to the offence, paid a $2,000 fine, did 200 hours of community service and completed a course ofdrug counsellin­g.

STEPHEN FRY – FRAUD

The high-brow ex-QI host was arrested aged 17 after stealing a family friend’s credit card. He admitted “going ape” and used it for three months. He spent three months in prison on remand.

JAY Z – STABBING

Beyoncé’s hubby stabbed a music industry executive in the stomach in 1999 during a nightclub bust-up. He pleaded guilty to an assault charge and got three years’ probation. The Fast & The Furious actress Michelle Rodriguez was arrested in Hawaii while filming an episode of Lost in 2006 on a charge of driving under the influence. She received probation and community service, but, less than a year later, she had violated the conditions and faked service forms, resulting in 180 days of jail time. VANILLA ICE – FIREARMS AND ASSAULT

The rapper was arrested in 1991 on a firearms charge after threatenin­g a homeless man with a pistol. In 2001 he was arrested for assaulting his wife. He was arrested for a third time in 2008 and charged with battery after allegedly kicking and hitting his wife. He was released after a day when his wife confirmed he’d only pushed her.
