- By JERRY LAWTON, Chief Crime Correspondent jerry.lawton@dailystar.co.uk

CORONATION Street actor John Michie wept yesterday as he accused daughter Louella’s boyfriend of letting her die from a drug overdose.

The actor said he had believed rapper Ceon Broughton was a “good person” after the musician spent Christmas with them.

But he told a jury yesterday: “Clearly I made a mistake.”

Broughton, 29, is accused of supplying Louella with the party drug 2C-P during the Bestival music event.

The jury has heard instead of summoning help as the yoga teacher, dancer and model fell “seriously ill” Broughton filmed her hallucinations over six hours.

The prosecution claim he took photos of her after she died an hour before her 25th birthday in September 2017.

Mr Michie, 62, who has also starred in Holby City and Casualty, and wife Carol, 68, dashed 130 miles to the festival after a distressed phone call from Louella.

Sobbing

A guard found her dead 400m from the festival’s hospital unit at Lulworth Castle in Dorset.

Mr Michie told a jury at Winchester Crown Court: “What I didn’t realise was how in the six hours Ceon was with her he had not taken her to get help, and he had seen the very, very distressed state she was in.

“I don’t know how you can say you love someone you left to die in front of you.”

His sobbing wife said she heard her daughter “screeching” on the phone “like a wild animal”.

Louella’s brother Sam, 28, said Broughton told him she had taken 2C-P but he had “bumped it up a bit”.

Sister Daisy, 29, said her sibling was “petrified”.

Traces of ketamine and ecstasy were also found in Louella’s system.

Broughton, of Enfield, north London, denies manslaughter and supplying a Class A drug.

The trial continues.
