THE production company set up by Top Gear’s three former presenters raked in £82,000 a day from the second series of their hit show The Grand Tour.

Jeremy Clarkson, 58, Richard Hammond, 49, and James May, 56, joined forces with veteran producer Andy Wilman, 56.

The foursome set up W. Chump and Sons Limited, and financial reports filed to Companies House reveal that the total turnover for the last year was £30.6million, with total profit reaching £2.3m.

The company shelled out £26.5m in sales costs, which means it spent roughly £2.4m on each episode of season two of the Amazon show.

There is also £11.1m in cash reserves. Proving how lucrative their careers are, each of the four company directors were able to pay themselves a £150,000 salary.

In a formal statement attached to the report, the company explained: “The profit was driven by the television programming produced during the period ended 31 December 2017.”

It added: “The directors are keen to continue focusing on producing quality programmes whilst ensuring that the company’s overheads remain stable.”

The first series of The Grand Tour, which smashed Amazon video viewing and TV subscriber sign-up records, ran for 13 episodes.

The second season consisted of 11 shows, while the third series, which began airing on January 18, will run for 13 episodes.

JEREMY Clarkson and co are raking in £82,000 a day from their big budget Grand Tour series.

That’s nearly enough to pay for Richard Hammond’s car insurance.
