KRUL TAUNT

Keeper puts the boot in

- By JON WEST

TIM KRUL says Norwich intend to give rivals Ipswich a hiding just like they did to Leeds last week.

The Canaries claimed top spot in the Championship from Marcelo Bielsa’s men thanks to an impressive 3-1 win at Elland Road.

Tomorrow in the East Anglian derby at Carrow Road they host an Ipswich side managed by their ex-boss Paul Lambertwho are rock bottom and heading for League One. Goalkeeper Krul said: “We’ve been in top form for the last 20 games – even more. I really, really feel like that.

“We will be in a similar atmosphere to Leeds and the Norwich fans will be up at a height after our win.

“So we will have to give Ipswich what we gave Leeds, for sure.” Norwich boss Daniel Farke warned his players they would have to fight to get one over their local rivals. He said: “The most difficult game is often the next one after such a massive win. Everyone expects it to be easy. It’s important to speak about why we were successful at Leeds – the fighting spirit and togetherness, which is what we need for this game.

“Derbies are always games you have to judge without regarding the table.

“We are the favourites but each derby has its own story, you can’t predict.”

Lambert took Norwich from League One to the Premier League in successive seasons but controversially left for Aston Villa in 2012.

As a result the Scot is expecting a hostile reception from the home fans but Farke regards him as one of the game’s best.

He said: “Quality is always defined over the long term, for players and coaches, so I will always be respectful of coaches like Steve Bruce, Tony Pulis, Neil Warnock and Paul Lambert.

“I know people are saying it is a few years ago and perhaps the quality of the Championship is not like nowadays but Paul delivered with outstanding consistency with two promotions.”
