Warnock promises a fitting final goodbye to tragic star

CARDIFF will bid Emiliano Sala an emotional final farewell today.

Neil Warnock confirmed yesterday the club will fund the repatriati­on of the striker’s body to Argentina after it was recovered from the plane that went missing over the English Channel on January 21.

And the Cardiff boss hopes his side can pay a fitting tribute to Sala against Southampto­n at St Mary’s today.

Warnock said: “I think we’ve got to pay our respects with the situation now coming to an end regarding Emiliano.

“We’ll wear black armbands and have a minute’s silence. I’m sure the Southampto­n fans will want that as well. We’ve asked the Premier League if we can wear the shirts with daffodils on again like we have done for the past two games, that would be nice.

“The Arsenal and Bournemout­h fans were great as well and you see all the tributes from the little clubs in the old third division right to the top clubs. It really brings the football family together.

“We will all remember him, and when that time of day comes we can all show our respects again.”

Despite the fact that Sala’s body has only just been recovered, Cardiff have been caught up in a row over the £15m transfer fee.

His former club Nantes have demanded the £5.2m first instalment but the Bluebirds are holding out until they are satisfied with the
