We need a fair system
THE allegations against Sir Philip Green raise important questions about non-disclosure agreements.
Before last week most people would be forgiven for having no idea what these controversial documents were.
But after important light was shed on NDAs it appears they are exclusively the reserve of the rich and famous.
Critics say they allow the wealthy to abuse their power and buy silence that the less well off can only dream of. While they can have legitimate uses it appears they are open to abuse.
This worrying development raises important questions about our democracy.
We are all supposed to be equal in the eyes of the law.
But many might say why bother to play by the rules if you can buy your way out?
To ignore the issue only undermines our democracy and create disillusionment with the establishment. During the era of fake news, this is a very dangerous thing indeed.
