Price on head for life

A PENSIONER who killed a burglar will be targeted for the rest of his life, it was claimed last night.

Richard Osborn-Brooks, 78, stabbed Henry Vincent, 37, with his own screwdriver when the crook raided his home.

The retired RAC boss was judged to have used reasonable force and released without charge.

But he and his wife Maureen, 76, have been in hiding since the raid on his home in Hither Green, south London, last April.

And criminal associates of Vincent are said to be “hell bent” on revenge.

A source said: “There’s no way Richard can ever live openly and he will have a price on his head for life. Vincent ran with hardened crooks and had a lot of friends who are desperate to track Richard down to exact revenge.

“They don’t care that it was selfdefence. They see it as one of their own being killed and they want to even the score.”

Vincent was a traveller who lived on the notorious Star Lane caravan site in nearby St Mary Cray, Kent.

His family left flowers on a “shrine” to Vincent opposite Mr OsbornBrooks’ empty house, stoking tensions with locals.

The source added: “Richard and his wife will have to stay in protective custody for the rest of their lives.”
