Card for ill teacher leads to governor’s suspension

- By PAUL DONNELLEY news@dailystar.co.uk

A SCHOOL governor says she has been suspended over a get-well card.

Iris Watson claims she was told that she had not asked permission to take the card into school.

She alleges that Ilfracombe Infants and Nursery School in Devon have used her “weak example of misconduct” to target her for raising “serious concerns” about its management.

Writing online, she said: “I had brought a get-well card into the school for parents to sign, if they wished, for a long-standing and much-loved teacher who has since left due to ill health.

“I was suspended for failing to ask permission to do this and of using the Nativity play as a means of getting to the parents.”

The school has been hit by a row over its links with a sister school. Mrs Watson says that two other governors have also been suspended in the dispute.

The school says the three had “not been prepared to get behind the leadership of the school or behave in a way that is in keeping with the office of a governor”.
