Real hope after Barca blank job

-

BARCELONA fired blanks on an off-night which saw them held to a goalless draw away to Athletic Bilbao.

The La Liga leaders looked out of sorts and were indebted to keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen to earn them a point.

Inaki Williams was among the Bilbao players denied by the German as Lionel Messi and Co were snuffed out last night.

Barca are now just six points clear of Real Madrid.

Gareth Bale scored his 100th goal for Real as they beat Atletico 3-1 in the Madrid derby.

Casemiro and Sergio Ramos were also on target with Real, who have won six of their last seven games, overtaking Atletico into second place.

Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund, who face Tottenham in the Champions League on Wednesday, warmed up for the clash at Wembley by throwing away a 3-0 lead to finish with a draw against Hoffenheim.

England winger Jadon Sancho opened the scoring in a man-of-the-match display but the teenage star was let down by his defenders.

Dortmund are now five points above Bayern Munich, who beat Schalke 3-1.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 20th Juventus goal as the unbeaten champions beat Sassuolo to move 11 points clear at the top of Serie A.

Sami Khedira and former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can were also on target for the runaway leaders.
