Nafi KO blow for Kat
KATARINA JohnsonThompson is gutted she cannot face rival Nafi Thiam on the European stage next month.
The Commonwealth heptathlon champion won in the long jump at the British Indoor Championships yesterday.
Olympic, world and European champ Thiam has a calf problem and the Belgian will not compete in the pentathlon in the Euro Indoors Championships in Glasgow.
After winning in Birmingham with a jump of 6.46m, JohnsonThompson said: “I’m a bit gutted because I like to compete against her.
“I feel in great shape, I just need to make the switch from heavy training to sharp competition.”
Tom Bosworth won the 5,000m race walk, while Morgan Lake took the high jump title with 1.94m.
Emma Reekie took inspiration from training partner Laura Muir to win the 1,500m and take her place on the GB team.
