Jackson batters Broncos
LONDON BRONCOS were brought back down to earth as Jackson Hastings stole the show for Salford.
The Aussie half-back made two tries and scored another as the Super League new boys – who stunned Wakefield last week – were given a reality check.
Salford had been largely written off before the start of the campaign but have conceded just two tries in wins over Huddersfield and now London.
And coach Ian Watson has backed his Salford players to continue proving the doubters wrong after going top.
He said: “People have their opinions and we’re only two games in, but we’ll soon see who’s right.
“We’re confident as a group and we don’t feel the need to shout about it.”
London defended superbly in the first-half, restricting the home side to a solitary Ken Sio try.
But when Hastings touched down a Niall Evalds kick soon after the restart the Red Devils had a lead they never looked likely to give up.
Hastings returned the favour for Evalds before sending over Josh Jones in the closing stages.
London coach Danny Ward said: “We’re disappointed with how we performed and attacked.
“We made a couple of errors and there’s always lots of lessons to learn, win or lose – and we will need to learn them.”
