Corbyn ‘defeat EU’ call
JEREMY Corbyn called for the EU to be “defeated” at a rally in
2010, it has emerged. A video of the speech at Durham Miners Gala has been uncovered. The remarks are likely to inflame tensions with Labour remainers.
A petition calling on Mr Corbyn to back a second referendum has now reached
50,000 signatures. Labour MP Angela Smith was turned away from party HQ when she attempted to hand in the petition yesterday.
A Labour Party spokesman said: “Jeremy was speaking out against the austerity that the IMF, the EU and the world’s bankers were forcing on the people of Europe at the time.”
