Fast-track education

MORE than one million drivers attended speed awareness courses in the last year.

They made up the vast majority of motorists who went on retraining courses as an alternative to penalty points and a fine.

Figures from the National Driver Offender Retraining Scheme show 1.45m drivers went on a course after a motoring offence – up by a third since 2013.

A total of 1.19m went on the speed course.
