LIONS legend Adrian Morley will turn his back on England for Sunday’s World Club Challenge against Wigan.

The former Great Britain star’s public backing for Aussie champions Sydney Roosters will not sit well with Warriors fans.

The 41-year-old former forward said: “I’ll probably get stick but it’s nothing I won’t have heard throughout my career so I can take it.

“Hopefully the Roosters will get the win and I will invite myself to their team hotel and have a few celebrator­y drinks.”

Morley is an icon in Super League and the NRL for his full-bloodied heroics at club and internatio­nal level.

He spent his career flying the flag for England but says that has to stop in this year’s fight to be the world club champions.

Strong

He said: “I’m sorry if you are a Wigan fan but I will be cheering on the Roosters because I had an incredible six years playing for them.

“I think they will be a bit too strong for Wigan. It won’t be a landslide by any stretch but the amount of experience Wigan have lost will be a factor.”

The Warriors have lost three key players, as well as coach Shaun Wane, since their Grand Final win over Warrington last October.

The two players Morley believes could tip the odds Wigan’s way are Sean O’Loughlin and Oliver Gildart.

He said: “Lockers is 36 but he’s still the best player in Super League and he always gets up for the big matches.

“Wigan will need him to step up if they are going to get the win, he is integral to the team and they need him firing.
