Boly nicks point at death

WILLY BOLY snatched victory from Newcastle with a stoppage-time header.

Poor Newcastle just couldn’t hold on after Isaac Hayden’s 56th-minute goal looked like being enough for a memorable away win.

But Wolves had other ideas and when sub Adama Traore slung a cross over to the far post Boly somehow got his head to it above keeper Martin Dubravka.

Newcastle looked stunned. Hayden goals come around about as often as Geordies with a good word to say about Mike Ashley.

The Toon owner couldn’t hide his delight up in the stand as the midfielder grabbed his first goal of the season – and his first since October 2017.

The three points which Hayden’s strike looked to have clinched would have been something to savour for quite some time.

It still takes some of the relegation heat off Toon boss Rafa Benitez – at least for a while.

Delighted

Hayden cashed in on a quick break from Fabian Schar and Wolves keeper Rui Patricio ended up just helping his shot on its way into the net.

Delighted Toon fans also got to see new record signing Miguel Almiron who came on as a late sub. The £20.5m Paraguayan got a rapturous reception.

Wolves might have created more chances in the opening 45 minutes but Newcastle came closest to breaking the deadlock on the stroke of half-time.

Salomon Rondon had two decent chances to put them in front – the first on 40 minutes when Hayden found him eight yards out but the big striker’s header was straight at the keeper.
