AJ’s Mad for New York
ANTHONY JOSHUA vows to become a big hit in the Big Apple when he defends his world titles against motormouth Jarrell Miller.
The WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight champion has confirmed he will make his US debut against the American at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 1.
Unbeaten Joshua, 29, is heading across the Atlantic for his first professional fight outside of the UK.
“I am heading to the
Big Apple and I plan to embrace the culture and leave with an appetite for more,” said Joshua, who cancelled a planned defence at Wembley on April 13 after failing to agree deals with Dillian Whyte or Deontay Wilder.
“I am looking forward to taking on another challenge with a good boxer and a brilliant talker, it will be an exciting fight.
“I will leave nothing to chance and plan on dismantling Miller in style to make my mark.”
Brooklyn-born Miller, who is unbeaten in 24 fights, clashed with Joshua at a press conference for the Brit’s last fight with Alexander Povetkin. Miller (left) heckled Joshua, who snapped back and told ‘Big Baby’ to “shut the f*** up, you little b **** ”. Miller said: “AJ is making a huge mistake by coming over here to fight me in my own backyard.
“He wants to announce himself on the American stage but all he is doing is delivering me those belts by hand.
“It’s dog eat dog in the ring and this dog has got a bigger bite, he will be leaving New York empty-handed.
“That punk AJ is standing in the way of my dreams and on June 1 he’s getting run the hell over.”
