Some of my workmates like to go down the pub at lunchtime and come back stinking of booze.

Is there anything wrong with what they’re doing? Of course there is! Their work is suffering because of it – and, more to the point, your working life is being made harder.

Certainly, joining in and being one of the gang is one option – but I definitely wouldn’t advocate it. Don’t stoop to their level. Don’t get me wrong, there’s nothing wrong with going to the pub and having a few drinks – just not at lunch on a work day!

IF your colleagues’ to behaviour starts become a serious first problem, the step is to document a incidents – with a view to making if it formal complaint becomes necessary. compensate for them? I’m not suggesting you go to the bosses but how about you just concentrate on your own workload? Continue performing to the best of your ability and let these colleagues worry about their jobs.

“We keep it quiet from the bosses,” you say. Well, sooner or later, it’s going to come out. Keep your own head down and these colleagues will get what’s coming to them soon enough.
