CAPRICE Bourret says she was ditched by Rod Stewart after Penny Lancaster issued him with an ultimatum.

And the supermodel-turned-entrepreneur realised what happened only when Rod lifted the lid on his love life on Loose Women.

The singer, now Sir Rod, said on the show he had been dating Penny and “another woman” – and Penny had found a photo of them together.

He tried to brush it off as just one of his daughter’s friends, but Penny ordered him to choose between them and said: “It’s her or me!”

Sir Rod picked Penny and she eventually became his third wife, while Caprice was left out in the cold. She says: “When I was dating him I had no idea he was dating someone else. He finished things with me – he just stopped calling.

“So I know what really happened all these years later! What a little s**t! But actually I had a chuckle about it. He’s a super-funny guy and he was a total gentleman when we were dating.

“So I’m OK with it. And I have my partner Ty now who is so wonderful and awesome.”

Caprice, 47, was a sex symbol in the 1990s and appeared on more than 250 magazine covers.

Timeless

She’s now a successful businesswoman with her own By Caprice range of lingerie, sleepwear and bedding, which is about to go into Dunelm stores. “The collection is, of course, glamorous, sophisticated and timeless,” she says.

But she’s currently concentrating on her acting career and reveals she once turned down the chance to star in the biggest show of the 90s.

“I was offered the lead in Baywatch,” she says. “But at the time my ego was the size of England and I thought I could get better than that. What an idiot right? I believed my own bulls**t.

“I did quite a bit of acting, but then I stopped. And now I have just jumped back in.”

She’s starring in a new film on Amazon Prime called In2ruders. It’s a psychological thriller about the dark side of the pop industry.

Caprice plays entertainment company CEO Ravanna Serpentine, who will stop at nothing to sign the acts she wants. She says: “I play quite a deadly, dominating female character and it was so much fun. She wants to sign these twins. One wants to sign, one doesn’t. There’s a lot of obstacles in the way and she does what she needs to do. It’s quite violent but in a very artistic way.

“I’ve met a few sharks, but no-one that actually commits murder. I really enjoyed playing this character – so much so that I think I need to see a therapist. It is a bit weird that I enjoyed being so cruel to people in this movie!”

And next, mum-of-two Caprice will appear opposite Hollywood heavyweight Harvey Keitel. She says: “I play his girlfriend, who’s an inspirational speaker. I hook up with the Harvey Keitel character as he is very powerful and influential and I hope he can help me get to where I need to be faster. I’m a bit of a user, but at least I’m not killing anyone in this one.”

As a top model in the 90s, Caprice had to fend off unwanted advances from men. But in the era of MeToo she reckons more women need to take responsibility and not allow themselves to end up in bad situations.

She says: “I’m American. I’m loud and proud and if somebody treats me in an indecent way, I will blast them. If a man asks you to go up to his room and he’s by himself and he’s coming out the shower, get the hell out of there.

“Assume some kind of responsibility. Start screaming, ‘Fire!’ Do something. No, we should not put up with men who act so indecently. But if you are put in a bad situation, then get out. Don’t, 15 years later, say, ‘Oh, this happened.’

“Maybe I was an idiot for putting myself in certain situations. But when something bad started happening, I assumed responsibility.”

Caprice still looks gorgeous – but admits she has to work on it. “I don’t exercise as much as I used to because I don’t have time,” she says. But as far as my diet is concerned, I’m very strict, very disciplined. I try to eat only organic, a lot of vegetables, a lot of fruit, not a lot of meat.

“Having two five-year-old boys, I’m running all over the place so sometimes I don’t feel like I need exercise. Being happy keeps you looking good – and right now I’m happy.”
