CARLISLE – DORKING COCK got off the mark at the sixth attempt at Sandown on Friday and escapes a penalty as that was a conditional jockeys’ race. It was a career-best performance by some stretch and Stan Sheppard, who rode him at the Esher course is again in the saddle. Clearly on the upgrade, the Tom Lacey-trained five-year-old, will take plenty of beating. Larch Hill has been switching distances recently, but back at two miles at Warwick last month, he scored a clear-cut success and will be the danger. -%''

NEWCASTLE – LION HEARTED (nap) has been living up to his name this year with three straight wins since transferring from Ireland to Michael Appleby’s Rutland yard. He escapes a penalty for his most recent success — a six-length romp over seven furlongs here – and should have no problems completing a four-timer. He ran three times over a mile in Ireland without troubling the judge, but is a different proposition these days and should stay the trip in the hands of the experienced Luke Morris. .%'' NEWCASTLE –

EQUITATION (nb) did well on his first run for Stuart Williams, finishing third here to the in-form

Outrage, who re-opposes this evening. The selection was receiving 9lb then and is now getting 13lb - and that should enable him to turn the tables on his conqueror, especially as Outrage is yet to win over tonight’s 6f trip, whereas Equitation has two successes over 6f to his name. In fact, that last-time-out run was his first over the minimum trip. Outrage has three wins at Newcastle in his last seven outings and should continue to give a good account. .%*'

NEWCASTLE –

CAPTAIN LARS (treble) should land this seller with the minimum of fuss. He has 15 allweather victories to his name and although a little disappointing last time out, he performed well in a Class Two handicap at Chelmsford on his penultimate start. He will be very much at home over this minimum distance and it will be a big surprise if he cannot take care of his four rivals, best of whom could be Harperelle.
