WHAT’S HOT TO WATCH TODAY

UNLESS he changes his mind at the last minute and decides to stay in and watch MasterChef, Jack Whitehall will be joining a particularly elite club tonight when he hosts THE BRIT AWARDS (8pm, ITV), live from London’s O2 Arena.

Namely, hosts who’ve done such a good job the first time around that they’ve been asked back to do it again.

Jack’s still got some distance to go before he’s up there with James Corden or Chris Evans (who’ve both hosted The Brits four times, in Corden’s case on the trot) or Ant & Dec (who’ve done three), but he’s already caught up with the likes of Davina McCall, Ben Elton and, er, Simon Bates. So that’s quite an honour, right? (In answer to the other obvious question here: namely, how on earth did Ben flipping Elton end up hosting The Brit Awards, well, let’s just say those were different times…)

As for who’s likely to head home tonight with at least one of those statuette things that personally I wouldn’t give house room, well, Dua Lipa and Anne-Marie are each up for four, while George Ezra is competing for three. George and Dua Lipa are also among those who’ll be performing live, the latter hooking up with Sam Smith and Rag’n’Bone Man in collaboration with Calvin Harris. Others doing live bits include Little Mix, The 1975 and Ms Banks. BEFORE all that, EMMERDALE’S Jai finds out Manpreet’s being doing something dodgy with the company credit card (7pm, ITV), while CORONATION STREET’S troubled Amy seems oddly unkeen when Tracy suggests they share some quality mum-anddaughter time (7.30pm, ITV).
