United to aim high for Jadon

- By ADRIAN KAJUMBA

MANCHESTER UNITED will need to clinch a top-four spot to have a chance of landing Jadon Sancho in a

£100m deal.

United have made the England wonderkid their top summer target.

They are determined to sign the 18-year-old winger whose displays since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City have seen him develop into one of the hottest young talents in Europe.

Sancho left City in August

2017 because of concerns about a lack of first-team opportunities.

After establishing himself with the German leaders he sees playing in the Champions League as vital.

Dortmund are almost certain to be playing in the competition next season with Germany’s top four qualifying directly for the group stages.

They insist Sancho, who is contracted to them until

2022, is not for sale.

But they would find it tough to turn down an English record offer in excess of £100m.

City are due 15 per cent of any fee as part of the deal that took him to Germany.

Meanwhile, United midfielder Juan Mata has hailed Paul Pogba as the complete player.

The Frenchman scored one and made another as United set up an FA Cup quarter-final at Wolves and sent holders Chelsea crashing out. He has now been involved in 15 goals in

12 games under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Mata said: “He assisted the cross for the first goal, scored the second one.

“Even in the second half,

80, 85 minutes, he was still defending, going forwards. He’s very, very complete.

“He’s got physique, he’s got quality, he’s got a pass, he can go box to box. He’s one of the best.”

Mata said United cannot wait to face Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday after losing to them 3-1 in Jose Mourinho’s final game in charge. He said: “It’s one of the big ones and we want to win. We play at home and hopefully will be a very good day for us.”
